The Christadelphian community has a long history of supporting charitable endeavours and helping those in need. Initiatives have included the community’s support for the Kindertransport programme during the Second World War and, since the 1970s, its commitment to tackling hunger and poverty around the world. 

 

This work on overseas poverty was inspired in part by the challenge posed by the late Henry Kissinger, then US Secretary of State, at the World Food Conference in Rome in 1974. Calling for a bold international response to hunger, Kissinger declared his hope that “within a decade no child will go to bed hungry”. This vision struck a chord with some Christadelphians and helped inspire the establishment of Christadelphian Meal-a-Day, one of the major Christadelphian charitable programs.
